This two-day Akagera national park wildlife safari will provide you with the ultimate game-viewing experience in the park. The Akagera National Park is Rwanda’s only Savannah park where we can go on game drives in specially designed vehicles. The park is home to a variety of large mammals, the most popular of which are Lions, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Zebras, Elephants, and Hippos, all of which will provide excellent photographic opportunities.
Transfer to Akagera National Park. When you arrive at Kigali International Airport, our safari guide will greet you and transport you to Akagera National Park in Rwanda’s eastern region (an approximately 2.5 hour drive). You will go for a nature walk upon arrival, followed by lunch at the Akagera Game Lodge. You will take a canoe ride on Lake Ihema in the afternoon to see aquatic animals such as hippos and crocodiles, as well as water birds such as the shoebill stork and African fish eagle. Return to the Akagera game lodge for dinner and a restful night’s sleep.
Game drive in the morning and transfer to Kigali You’ll go on an early morning game drive after breakfast to see elephants, impala, black-tailed mongoose, hippos, oribi, bushbuck, antelope, zebra, cape eland, giraffe, and buffalo, among other animals. With over 500 bird species, the park provides a diverse habitat for wildlife and is a birder’s paradise. Primates such as the olive baboon, vervet monkey, and bush baby can also be seen. After lunch, you’ll return to Kigali and be transferred to the airport for your flight out.
