This two-day Uganda gorilla safari begins in Kigali with a city tour, followed by a transfer to Bwindi National Park for an overnight stay in the park, and then a transfer back to Kigali the next day after gorilla tracking, arriving in Kigali in the evening. Day 1:
Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and city tour You will be picked from the hotel in Kigali or airport on arrival and go for Kigali city tour to visit the Gisozi genocide memorial, Nyamata church, National museum, Musanze caves, local markets among others. Then drive north to Bwindi National Park, passing through Katuna on the way, arriving in the evening. At the lodge, you’ll have dinner and spend the night.
Tracking gorillas and returning to Kigali In the morning, assemble at the park headquarters at 7am for a compulsory pre-tracking briefing from the park warden along with your trekking gear, drinking water and packed lunch. After that, head to the forest to track gorillas, which can take anywhere from 1 to 8 hours depending on the apes’ natural movements. You will descend and your guide will transport you back to Kigali in the evening after meeting and staying in the presence of the gorillas for a maximum of an hour.
